The number of bankruptcies continues to go up. In the 1st quarter of 2014, the number of bankruptcies was 1 299, an increase of 10 per cent compared with the 1st quarter in 2013.

The number of bankruptcies continues to go up. In the first quarter of 2014, the total number of bankruptcies was 1 299. This is an increase of 10 per cent compared with the same quarter in 2013.

The largest increases in percentage terms were in the counties of Troms, Akershus and Vestfold, with 56, 47 and 41 per cent more bankruptcies respectively. The largest rises in absolute figures were in the counties of Oslo and Akershus, with 48 more bankruptcies in each.

In the counties of Buskerud, Telemark, Hordaland, Sogn og Fjordane, Sør-Trøndelag and Nordland, the number of bankruptcies went down.

Seven out of ten bankruptcies, a total of 921, related to enterprises (excluding sole proprietorships). Thirty per cent of these were in wholesale and retail trade. The remaining 378 bankruptcies related to sole proprietorships and personal bankruptcies. Thirty-eight per cent of these were in construction.
