Male-dominated boards
The proportion of male members of the boards of private limited companies has not changed compared with the last five years. Men still constitute 83 per cent of the boards. The female share of the boards of public limited companies is 40.2 per cent.
The female share of board members in public limited companies is thus the statutory minimum required for gender balance in company boards.
In private limited companies, 17 per cent of the board members are women. Female board membership is highest in other service activities, with 46 per cent, followed by education, with 37 per cent, and public administration and defence, with 33 per cent.
Men comprise nine out of ten board members in construction. Private limited companies with only men in their boards make up 72 per cent of the companies. The highest share is in construction, where 84 per cent of the companies have only male board members.
Female participation in general management still low
The participation of women in general management in private limited companies is still 14 per cent. The highest female participation rates in general management are in other service activities (58 per cent), education (36 per cent) and accommodation and food service activities (28 per cent).
In public limited companies, 5 per cent of the general managers are women.
