Weaker results

Listed companies showed a weakened result for the second quarter of 2011 compared to the first quarter.

The profit before tax for the second quarter amounted to NOK 67 billion. This was a decrease of NOK 8 billion or 11 per cent from the first quarter. Compared with the second quarter of 2010, there was still an increase of NOK 21 billion or 45 per cent.

Operating profit also went down by NOK 5 billion or 7 per cent from the first quarter. Nevertheless, this was 61 per cent higher than the operating profit for the second quarter of 2010.

Despite the decline in results, the number of companies that had a loss before tax decreased compared with the previous quarter. The share was also lower than the corresponding quarter in 2010.
