Results still decreasing
Listed companies showed a continuing decline in results for the third quarter of 2011 compared to the first two quarters of the year.
Profit before tax for the third quarter amounted to NOK 52 billion. This was down almost NOK 15 billion or 22 per cent since the second quarter. Compared with the result from third quarter of 2010, the decline was insignificantly small, with under NOK 400 million or less than 1 per cent.
In addition, the operating profit declined by NOK 11 billion or 17 per cent since the second quarter, ending at a total of NOK 58 billion. However, compared to last year’s third quarter, the operating profit was well over NOK 12 billion or 28 per cent higher in the third quarter of 2011.
With regard to companies with a loss before tax, we have seen a turn since last quarter, and the numbers are now increasing. The share is now also larger than the corresponding quarter in 2010.
