Lower income, higher profitability
The listed enterprises could show a better profitability in the first quarter of the year, despite lower operating income. Operating margin in the first quarter of 2016 was 12 per cent, an increase compared with both same quarter of 2015 and the previous quarter.

The operating profit margin was 9.1 per cent, up by 8.8 percentage points from the fourth quarter of 2015. By comparison, the operating profit margin for listed enterprises was -0.2 per cent in the same quarter of 2015.
The share of enterprises with deficit before taxes was lower in the first quarter of 2016 than in the last quarter of 2015. The share was 43 percent against 50 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2015. It was however 6 percentage points higher compared with the first quarter of 2015.
