Slight decline in external liabilities
External liabilities for the largest non-financial Norwegian companies totalled close to NOK 697 billion at the end of the second quarter of 2008, 3 per cent less than the previous quarter.
Although total external liabilities for the largest Norwegian companies went down, long-term external liabilities went up by 1 per cent from the first to the second quarter. Short-term external liabilities decreased by almost 8 per cent in the same period.
About the statistical basisThe statistics are based on a survey of the 600 largest non-financial companies. The size of the company is measured by assets and liabilities in foreign countries, shares in foreign countries and shares owned by foreigners.
The data are based on accounting legislation, and the values do not necessarily give a good picture of the real value or market value of the assets in every case. |
