Bimonthly retail trade statistics, 5th period 1995:
Low sales in North Norway
The three northernmost counties in Norway reported notably lower growth
in retail sales in the first 10 months of 1995 compared to the rest of the
country.
Compared to the 10 first months of 1994, sales rose 6.3 per cent on average
for the entire country. Oslo was above average with a sales increases of 9.7
per cent, Buskerud with 7.7 percent and Akershus with 7.3 per cent. The
comparative figures for the three northernmost counties were Finnmark 2.5,
Troms 3.6 and Nordland 3.8. Oppland also sticks out with a sales increase of
only 1.3 per cent for the first 10 months of last year. Vest-Agder's numbers
were also down. The retail sales index rose 6.6 per cent during the same
period.
