In the course of the first six months of the year Norway exported NOK 148.2 billion worth of goods and imported NOK 103.9 billion worth of merchandise. This works out to a NOK 44.3 billion surplus in merchandise trade with other countries. The surplus for 1995 totalled NOK 53.6 billion.
The total value of exports excluding ships and offshore oil platforms totalled NOK 24.3 billion in June. This figure includes NOK 10.6 billion worth of crude oil exports. The value of exports in June falls in line with the high monthly trade surpluses Norway has reported since December last year.
