Wage statistics. Employees in the transport sector, 1 October 1997:

Bus drivers earn less than lorry drivers


In October 1997, the average monthly take-home pay of full-time drivers of buses and other passenger transport services was NOK 1,600 less than their counterparts employed in goods transport.

Of altogether 10,800 full-time employees in the overland transport survey, drivers account for about 65 per cent. Bus and other passenger transport services drivers had average monthly earnings of NOK 16,200, while the corresponding figure for lorry and combined vehicle drivers was NOK 17,800. In comparison, taxi drivers have average monthly earnings of NOK 17,300.

Managers of bus lines and other passenger transport services had average monthly earnings of NOK 22,200 while goods transport managers were paid NOK 27,700. The comparative figures for mechanics, etc. were NOK 16,700 in bus and other passenger transport services and NOK 19,100 in goods transport.
