Kindergarten fees up 0.6 per cent

Norwegian kindergarten fees increased on average by 0.6 per cent from January to August 2009. The private kindergarten fees rose slightly more than the public ones.

Household payment in public kindergartens showed a slight increase of 0.4 per cent from January to August 2009 while fees in private kindergartens went up 0.8 per cent. 54 per cent of all kindergarten children attend public kindergartens.

Public kindergarten fees have gone slightly up in all parts of the country. From August 2008 to August 2009 the fees in public kindergartens increased on average by 0.7 per cent.

The ceiling for kindergarten fees for a full-time place is NOK 2 330 per month and NOK 25 630 per year. The ceiling remains unchanged for 2009.
