Following the decline in prices at the turn of 1994-95, prices of existing homes have rebounded in Stavanger in the southwestern part of the country, Bergen on the west coast and Trondheim in mid-Norway. Prices here rose 12 percent for all types of houses last year.
Prices of existing homes rose eight percent from fourth quarter 1994 to fourth quarter 1995. The prices of town houses, row houses and flats increased the most, by just over 10 percent. Single family homes increased 5.6 percent.
In Oslo and the adjoining community of Bærum, prices of existing homes have shot up nearly 50 percent since hitting bottom. In 1995, prices rose 9.4 percent, with flats accounting for the largest increase, 10.1 percent. Next was detached houses with 8.5 percent and town houses and row houses with 4.0 percent.
In the rest of the country prices of existing homes rose 6.4 percent in 1995.
