The upswing applied to stays by both Norwegian and foreign guests. Compared to the same month last year, the number of reservations by Norwegians increased nine percent from 890,000 to 973,000, while the number of foreign bookings increased five percent to 780,000.
After sliding for several months in 1996, occupancy at Norwegian hotels increased in June. Total occupancy increased from 1.63 million bookings in June 1995 to 1.75 million in June 1996, an increase of nearly eight percent.
