Rented out office space in office and commercial buildings in Oslo and Bærum totalled in 1995 about three million square metres. The survey also included other types of buildings. For other types of buildings the survey was too limited to provide reliable statistics. The data nevertheless give reason to believe that the total amount of rented office space in Oslo and Bærum is more than double, when all types of buildings are included.
The average annual rental income for office accommodation in Oslo and Bærum was nearly NOK 1,000 per square metre in 1995, and the vacancy rate was about seven per cent, according to Statistics Norway's new rental and office space survey in Oslo and Bærum.
The survey uncovered a great deal of variation in rental income. The lowest and highest observed rental income per square metre was NOK 144 and NOK 2,840, respectively. There were relatively small differences in average rental income between the four zones in Oslo. Bærum had the highest average rental income, NOK 1,098 per square metre.
