Tax statistics, 1996. Main figures for personal and non-personal taxpayers:

Sharp increase in state income taxes

Combined assessed taxes totalled NOK 209.3 billion in 1996, an increase of 13.3 per cent from the year before. The biggest increase was in central government income taxes, which were assessed at NOK 41.8 million, 44 per cent more than in 1995.
The large increase in income taxes is mostly because of higher earnings by companies involved in the production of oil and gas. For personal taxpayers, the state surtax by and large accounts for most of the state income tax. The surtax amounted to about NOK 9.6 billion in 1996, an increase of 7.6 per cent from 1995.

NOK 155 billion from personal taxpayers

Altogether NOK 154.6 billion was assessed in taxes for personal taxpayers, while the corresponding figure for non-personal taxpayers was NOK 54.7 billion.
