Adjusted for seasonal variations, there were 120 000 unemployed persons in May, the same as in February.

In May (average of April – June), the seasonally-adjusted unemployment was 4.3 per cent – the same as in February (average of January – March), according to the statistics Labour force survey, seasonally-adjusted figures.
Since the last release, the unemployment rate for April (average of March – May) has been adjusted from 4.6 to 4.5 per cent. These kinds of adjustments are normal since the whole time series is seasonally adjusted every month.

Small changes in the number of employed persons
According to the Labour Force Survey (LFS), the seasonally adjusted number of employed persons increased by 5 000 persons from February (average of January – March) to May (average of April – June). This change is within the LFS margin of error.
