1  The figures for Oslo municipality are included in the figures for the county authority for upper secondary school only.

Contracted man-years in municipalities, by activity. Per cent. 2010

The municipal health and social services employed 42 per cent of all employees in the municipalities in 2010, amounting to 145 700 contracted man-years. This is an increase of 2.1 per cent compared to 2009, or almost 3 000 man-years. Man-years in kindergartens rose by 1 300.

9 300 man-years in inter-municipal companies

In certain fields the municipalities organise their activity in inter-municipal companies. The man-years in such companies are not included in the figures presented above. A total of 9 300 man-years are connected to these companies in 2010. Most commonly we find such companies in administration, water supply, sewerage and waste management and in fire protection.

Increased number of man-years within nursing and care services

Contracted man-years in inter-municipal companies, by activity. Per cent. 2010

The growth in contracted man-years in nursing and care services was 2.2 per cent, or 2 700 contracted man-years, compared to 2009. More than two thirds of the man-years were carried out by personnel with a health care education.

The figures for the nursing and care services also include private enterprises contracted by the municipalities. The man-years in private services amount to 6.7 per cent of the man-years in nursing and care services in total.

Stable situation in the county authorities

A total of 47 400 persons were employed in the county authorities in 2010. Compared to 2009 this is an increase of 1.3 per cent or 620 man-years.

Contracted man-years in counties by activity. Per cent. 2010.

Upper secondary education amounts to a total of 82 per cent of the contracted man-years in the counties. The man-years in the county dental health services amount to 6 per cent. The distribution among the areas of responsibility for the counties has been largely unchanged over the last 5 years.

A few of the county authorities organise their dental services in inter-municipal companies. Nineteen per cent of the 3 200 contracted man-years in the dental health services were in such companies in 2010.
