Increase in man-years in municipal authorities

Municipal activities employed more than 470 000 people in the fourth quarter of 2014. This is an increase of less than 1 per cent in the number employed and man-years within the municipal authorities from the 4th quarter of 2013 to the 4th quarter of 2014.

Measured by the number of man-years, the growth in municipal activities was 0.5 per cent, or nearly 3 900 employees. While primary school and health and social services showed a growth of about 1 per cent, man-years in kindergartens showed a decrease of 1.6 per cent or 700 man-years, and man-years in cultural activities were reduced by 2.5 per cent compared to 2013.

In the county authorities, man-years showed a decrease of 0.7 per cent compared to the 4th quarter of 2013. The number employed was also reduced by 0.7 per cent.

Taking into account services from private enterprises or inter-municipal companies in nursing and care services, figures show that contracted man-years in nursing and care increased by 1 600, or 1.2 per cent, from the 4th quarter of 2013 to the 4th quarter of 2014. The share of man-years in private services shows an increase after being stable for several years, and now totals 7.4 per cent of all services.

The number of man-years by personnel with a health care education in nursing and care services has increased from 68.3 per cent in 2009 to 71.5 per cent in 2014.
