Employment in municipal activities, 2007, 4th quarter

The municipalities and counties employed 472 461 persons in total in 2007, corresponding to 364 066 man-years. Of the employees more than 90 per cent were employed by the municipalities.

Health and social services are still the largest activity within the municipal activities with a total of 42 per cent of the man-years. 27.3 per cent of the contracted man-years can be found in primary and lower secondary education, while kindergarten has a total of 10.9 per cent. Kindergarten is also the activity where employment has had the highest increase with 11.1 per cent since 4^{t h} quarter 2006.

Growth in contracted man-years within nursing and care services

The growth in contracted man-years within nursing and care services was 4.4 per cent compared to 2006, the number of man-years now totalling to 118 208. There has been an increase in the number of personnel with a health care education.

Man-years in upper secondary education

The counties employed 46 309 persons, totalling to 39 456 man-years. 83.4 per cent of these man-years were in upper secondary education, while 9.9 per cent where in administration.
