Increasing man-years in kindergartens

The preliminary figures for 2008 show an increase of 7 per cent in contracted man-years compared to those of 2007. Contracted man-years in kindergartens represents a third of the total increase in the municipalities.

The total growth in contracted man-years in the municipalities from 2007 to 2008 was 3.2 per cent. Even though kindergartens have the largest increase in man-years in the municipalities, health and social services are still by far the most dominant activity, with a total share of 42 per cent of the contracted man-years.

In 2008, 440 000 persons were employed by the municipalities, totalling 332 000 contracted man-years. This is due to the fact that a large percentage of the employees work part-time. Contracted man-years lost due to sick leave and maternity leave fell 5.3 per cent compared to 2007.
