Decrease in job vacancies in oil and manufacturing, increase in trade
The number of job vacancies in the production of oil and gas decreased by half from the 3rd quarter of 2014 to the 3rd quarter of 2015. The decrease in manufacturing was 39 per cent compared with the same quarter the previous year. On the other hand, trade had an increase of 25 per cent.

There were 51 800 job vacancies in the 3rd quarter of 2015; 2 900 fewer than the previous year. In line with the decrease in the number of job vacancies, the job vacancy rate decreased from 2.1 per cent in the 3rd quarter of 2014 to 1.8 in the same quarter of 2015. The percentage of job vacancies is measured as a percentage of the total number of jobs, i.e. the number of employees and vacancies.
In manufacturing, the number of job vacancies decreased by 1 100 from the 3rd quarter of 2014 to the same quarter of 2015 – corresponding to a decrease of 39 per cent. In mining and quarrying – an industry dominated by the production of oil and gas – the number of job vacancies decreased by 50 per cent. There has been a decrease in this industry every quarter from the 4th quarter of 2012. Job vacancies in administrative and support service activities fell by 3 000 from the same quarter the previous year, which corresponds to a decrease of 38 per cent.
Increase in some industries
The number of job vacancies in trade was 6 400 in the 3rd quarter of 2015. This is an increase of 1 300, or 25 per cent, from the same quarter the previous year. In public administration, the number of job vacancies was 3 800; an increase of 1 200.
