Total paid compensation in cash amounted to NOK 883 billion in 2008. This is an increase of 9.4 per cent from 2007.

Disbursements of unemployment benefits

A total of 100 000 persons received unemployment benefit in 2008. Total disbursements of unemployment benefit amounted to NOK 4.3 billion in 2008; a decrease of 1 per cent from 2007.

The statistics are based on figures from the register on End of the Year Certificates for the year 2008. This covers enterprises that are obligated by law to report to the register.
