Compensation in cash up 10.2 per cent
Total paid compensation in cash amounted to NOK 889 billion in 2008. This is an increase of NOK 82 billion, or 10.2 per cent, from 2007.
For men, the increase was 10.1 per cent from NOK 449 billion in 2007 to NOK 550 billion in 2008. By comparison, women had NOK 339 billion in 2008; an increase of 10.3 per cent from 2007. A total of 2 948 000 persons received compensation in cash in 2008, which is 87 000 more than in 2007.
Disbursements of unemployment benefits
A total of 100 000 persons received unemployment benefit in 2008; an increase of 6.2 per cent from the year before. Total disbursements of unemployment benefit amounted to NOK 4.3 billion in 2008; a decrease of 1.2 per cent from 2007.
