Wages increased by 3.5 per cent

Full-time employees in central government maintained hospitals had monthly earnings of NOK 30 100 at 1 October 2004. This was a NOK 1 000 or 3.5 per cent increase from 2003.

Nurses had monthly earnings of NOK 25 900 on the average, which was NOK 900 or 3.7 per cent up from 2003. Specialized nurses and midwives received NOK 29 700, a NOK 1 000 or 3.5 per cent increase. Assistant nurses had average monthly earnings of NOK 22 200.

Doctors increased their monthly earnings by 2.4 per cent from 2003, to an average of NOK 54 200 at 1 October 2004, while secretaries working full-time had NOK 21 200. This was a NOK 1 000 or 4.7 per cent increase from the previous year.

About the statistical basis

The statistics are based on information from all central government maintained hospitals in all health regions, and includes all employees working full-time.

Monthly earnings include salary according to scale and fixed and variable additional allowances. Payment for overtime work is not included.
