Monthly earnings increased by NOK 700

Average monthly earnings for full-time employees in central government maintained hospitals were NOK 30 800 in October 2005. This was an increase of NOK 700 or 2.4 per cent from October 2004.

Doctors increased their monthly earnings by NOK 200 or 0.4 per cent from 2004, to an average of NOK 54 800 at 1 October 2005, while psychologists working full-time had NOK 32 200. This was an increase of NOK 1 300 or 4.2 per cent.

Professional and specialist nurses had average monthly earnings of NOK 28 800, which corresponds to an increase of NOK 1 100 or 3.8 per cent. In comparison nursing assistants and care assistants had monthly earnings of NOK 23 100, an increase of NOK 800 or 3.7 per cent. Average monthly earnings for physiotherapists and related associate professionals working full-time were NOK 25 500. This was an increase of NOK 1 100 or 4.6 per cent.

Other occupational groups

Secretaries working full-time had monthly earnings of NOK 21 700, an increase of NOK 500 or 2.5 per cent. In comparison doctor’s secretaries had monthly earnings of NOK 21 500, which corresponds to an increase of NOK 800 or 3.9 per cent.

Full-time employees in central government maintained hospitals are dominated by professional and specialist nurses, doctors and nursing assistants.

About the statistical basis

The statistics are based on information from all central government maintained hospitals in all health regions, and includes all employees working full-time.

Monthly earnings include salary according to scale and fixed and variable additional allowances. Payment for overtime work is not included.
