In 2018, NAV made a number of changes that have led to a break in the time series for registered unemployment. Figures released before the changes are therefore not directly comparable with later figures. The effect of the changes is not yet known. Statistics Norway has therefore chosen not to comment on the figures for this publication.

| 1For many immigrants SSB has no information about their level of education. For 2014 and newer years figures includes an estimated level of education for missing values for these immigrants. For more information see About the statistics at www.ssb.no/utdanning/statistikker/utniv. The numbers of registered unemployed by education must not be mistaken with NAV's unemployment figures for education. NAV figures show self-reported highest commenced education. SSB's figures show the person's highest completed education mainly based on reports from education institutions. For more information, see About the statistics. | ||||||

Additional information
The statistics cover persons registered as unemployed and persons on NAV initiatives in November each year, as from 2015. Figures were previously published every month. NAV publishes monthly figures. Statistics Norway publishes monthly figures for a broader group of unemployed persons through the Labour Force Survey (LFS).
