Rise in IT occupations and for engineers
The increase in employment from 2004 to 2005 is largest among Technicians and associate professionals (major group 3) and Service workers, shop and market sales workers (major group 5), according to the Labour Force Survey (LFS) 2005.
The increase among Technicians etc. was largest among engineers and administrative and economic associate professionals. Within Service workers etc. the largest rise in employment was recorded among child care workers.
Regarding the 10 largest occupations by number of employees, the IT occupations (including computer systems designers, programmers, computer associate professionals, IT help desk personnel etc.) rose from 56 000 in 2004 to 62 000 in 2005.
Half of the managers in public sector are women. Of all employees in this sector, 70 per cent are women.
Due to new guidelines, salespersons in wholesale who have been coded to the occupational unit group (OUG) 3415 Technical and commercial sales representatives are in 2005 coded to OUG 5224 Salespersons (wholesale) because the tasks they perform are in accordance with this occupational group.
