Construction, new orders (discontinued)Q1 2003

Statistics Norway has decided to stop the publication of the Construction, new orders from the first quarter of 2018. One reason for this was that the statistic previously was a part of Eurostat's regulation for short-term statistics, but this requirement was removed from the regulation in 2012.

Increase in civil engineering works

The value of new orders received for civil engineering works increased a lot in the first quarter 2003. The main reason is a contract on construction of a stretch of highway south of Trondheim.

The value of company reserves for civil engineering works rose by 32 per cent during the 1s t quarter this year. Since the 1s t quarter of 2002 the value of company reserves for civil engineering works increased by 14 per cent. Broken down to regions the strongest increase was in Trøndelag and Finnmark. The growth in civil engineering works contributes to keeping the total stock of orders on the same level at the end of March this year as at the same time last year.

Less new buildings

The value of new orders received on new residential buildings during the first quarter this year was 17 per cent lower than during the same period last year. The stock of orders on new residential buildings decreased by 1 per cent during the 1s t quarter and is 9 per cent lower than a year ago. New orders received on non-residential buildings were about at the same level in the 1s t quarter this year compared with the 1s t quarter last year. Company reserves on non-residential buildings decreased by 7 per cent during the 1s t quarter 2003 and were 3 per cent lower than at the end of the 1s t quarter last year

Company reserves of housing renovation increased during the 1s t quarter after a strong decrease at the end of last year. The value of company reserves at the end of the 1s t quarter was still 22 per cent lower than at the same time last year. Company reserves on renovation of non-residential buildings increased by 5 per cent in this period.
