Stable inflow of new construction orders
The value of company reserves in the construction industry has remained unchanged since the 4th quarter of 2008, and is 14 per cent lower at the end of the 3rd quarter of 2009 compared with the corresponding period in 2008.
The inflow of new construction orders remains unchanged from the 2nd to the 3rd quarter 2009 despite a normally seasonal decrease in the summer period.
Decrease in building sector
The total value of order reserves for building construction is 23 per cent lower at the end of the 3rd quarter of 2009 compared with the corresponding period the previous year, measured in current values. The inflow of new dwelling orders has remained at a low level during 2009, and reserves are 30 per cent lower than at the end of the 3rd quarter of 2008. An increasing inflow of renovation orders helped reduce the fall in the total stock of housing orders.
For non-residential buildings there has been a growth in new orders during 2009 after the strong fall at the end of 2008. The total value of order reserves for non-residential buildings is 23 per cent lower at the end of the 3rd quarter of 2009 compared with the corresponding period the previous year.
Increase in civil engineering works
The total value of company reserves for civil engineering works is 8 per cent higher at the end of the 3rd quarter of 2009 compared with the corresponding period the previous year, measured in current values.
