Increase in new construction orders
New construction orders increased by 30 per cent from 2nd quarter 2009 to 2nd quarter 2010. The increase was largest within the residential building sector, but growth was also substantial within civil engineering works.
The inflow of new dwelling projects has been rising in recent quarters, and from 2n d quarter 2009 to 2n d quarter 2010, the inflow increased by 59 per cent. The inflow of new orders related to new commercial buildings increased by 32 per cent during the same period. The construction order reserves in all were 16 per cent higher by the end of 2n d quarter 2010 than at the same time last year.
Rehabilitation of buildings
The order reserves for rehabilitation - reconstruction, repair and maintenance - of dwellings increased by 33 per cent last quarter, and were 28 per cent higher than a year ago. For civil engineering works the level of new rehabilitation orders has been rather stable in the last year.
Stable order reserves for civil engineering works
The inflow for new civil engineering works was 10 per cent lower in the 2nd quarter 2010 compared with the previous quarter, and was hence at the same level as last year. The value of the order reserves connected to civil engineering works remained stable last year compared with the last quarter.
