Large increase in investments next year
The first estimates of the level of investment for 2002 show a substantial increase compared with estimates for 2001 reported at the same time last year. Estimates for 2001 reported in the current quarter amount to NOK 20 billion in current value. This is a 10 per cent increase compared with 2000.
Estimates for 2002 covering manufacturing, mining and quarrying and electricity supply are now as much as 39 per cent higher than the 2001-estimates from the May-survey last year. Several large projects in the industries basic metals, refined petroleum products and chemicals and electricity supply contribute considerably to this rise. There is, however, a great deal of uncertainty attached to the estimates for 2002 at this time.
A rise is expected in the level of investments for 2001 compared with last year. Estimates are adjusted up 5 per cent since the 1.quarter this year, and are now 10 per cent above the 2000-estimates given at the same time last year. The increase is mainly due to a couple of large projects in the industries basic metals and electricity supply.
