Increase in basic metal industry
The investment estimates for 2001 for manufacturing, quarrying and electricity supply show an 11 per cent increase compared with last year. Estimates for 2002 still show a substantial increase compared with estimates for 2001 reported at the same time last year.
Investment estimates for 2001 for manufacturing, quarrying and electricity supply are now NOK 20.4 billion in current value. This is an 11 per cent increase compared with estimates for 2000 reported at the same time last year. Large projects in the industries basic metals, food products, beverages and tobacco and electricity supply are the main factors for the increase. The 2001-estimates are 2 per cent up compared with the last quarter.
Investments in 2002
A substantial growth is expected in the level of investments for 2002. The estimates are now as much as 39 per cent above corresponding figures for 2001. A number of large projects in the industries' basic metals and electricity supply contribute particularly to the increase. A great deal of uncertainty is, however, attached to the 2002-estimates at this time.
