Higher estimates for 2011

The total level of investment in 2010 is expected to be significantly lower than in 2009. However, the first estimates for 2011 implies that this development is about to turn.

Estimated investments 2000-2010 collected 2nd quarter same year. Mill. current NOK

Final investments per quarter in Manufacturing. Q1 2000 - Q1 2010. 2005=100

Total investments in 2010 covering manufacturing, mining and quarrying and electricity supply are expected to amount to about NOK 34 billion, measured in current value. This is 13 per cent less than the corresponding figure for 2009. New estimates for 2011 indicate moderate growth in the total level of investment. Very high results for future investments in electricity supply is the reason for this development.

Revised figures for 2008

The estimate for final investments in Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (NACE Rev. 2: 35) for 2008 is revised (+ 1.1 billion) due to new information from the respondents included in this survey. The correction compensates for much of the decline caused by the recalculation of the time series (mentioned in textbox).

New sub aggregates for electricity supply:

As from the 2nd quarter of 2010, the following sub aggregates are published for Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (NACE Rev. 2: 35):

  • Production of electricity (NACE Rev. 2: 35.11)

  • Transmission and distribution of electricity (NACE Rev. 2: 35.12, 35.13, 35.14)

  • District heating and gas (NACE Rev. 2: 35.2, 35.3)

Time series dating back to 2006 are available in the Stabank, and the new aggregates are incorporated in table 2 and 3.

Other changes:

The population for Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (NACE Rev. 2: 35) has been redefined since the previous release of this survey. The changes are:

  • Refuse incineration plants which supply heat are moved from Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (NACE Rev. 2: 35) to Waste collection, treatment and disposal activities, materials recovery (NACE Rev. 2: 38).

  • Systems for the production of biogas from refuse are moved from Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (NACE Rev. 2: 35) to Waste collection, treatment and disposal activities, materials recovery (NACE Rev. 2: 38).

  • Producers of liquefied natural gas (LNG) are moved from Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (NACE Rev. 2: 35) to Extraction of crude petroleum and natural gas (NACE Rev. 2: 06).

  • Distributors of liquefied natural gas (LNG) are moved from Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (NACE Rev. 2: 35) to Retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles (NACE Rev. 2: 46).

Estimates for final investments in Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (NACE Rev. 2: 35) are recalculated for the period 2006-2009 due to these changes. The results for final investments are somewhat lower because of this: NOK -348 million (2006), NOK -725 million (2007), NOK -1557 million (2008), NOK -2161 million (2009).
