Continued high turnover
Overall revenues within the oil and gas extraction, mining and quarrying, manufacturing, electricity and gas supply were NOK 132 billion in September/October of 1999 an increase of 13.4 per cent compared with the corresponding period last year. The highest increase occurred in the oil and gas extraction sector.
The revenues for enterprises within the oil and gas extraction sector increased by about 60 per cent from September/October 1998. The high price of crude oil (Brend Blend) contributed to the increase. The average price of crude oil was between NOK 170 - 175 per barrel in this period. This is a growth of about 75 per cent compared with the corresponding period in 1998.
The revenues within manufacturing remained the same
The enterprises within manufacturing sold for about NOK 81 billions in September/October 1999 which was a slight increase compared with the same period the previous year. The industry groups refined petroleum products and basic metals experienced a growth in turnover where as enterprises within machinery and transport had a decline.

The variation in manufacturing turnover can be related to changes in volume and price indices in different industries and also production to stocks and sales from stocks.
