Growth in manufacturing

Seasonally adjusted figures show that turnover in Norwegian manufacturing in the period January to March increased by 5.8 per cent compared with the previous three months. The turnover increased in both the domestic and export market, with 8.9 and 1.0 per cent respectively.

Seasonally adjusted figures show that turnover in all main industrial groupings except energy goods increased in the last three-month period. Capital goods had the strongest growth and increased by 9.6 per cent, mainly caused by increased turnover in transport equipment and oil platforms and modules. Intermediate goods rose by 3.9 per cent. Turnover in the largest industry within consumer goods, food products, beverage and tobacco, experienced a decline in this period. Consumer goods still had an increase of 2.0 per cent. Energy goods fell by 0.9 per cent, caused by a decline in the domestic market.

Strong growth from February to March

Seasonally adjusted figures show that both capital goods and intermediate goods had an increase in turnover from February to March with 17.8 and 2.6 per cent respectively. The change in energy goods was quite insignificant. Consumer goods only had a small increase of less than 1 per cent.
