Moderate growth in turnover
Total turnover in Norwegian manufacturing was 1.2 per cent higher in the period from March to May 2008 compared to the previous three-month period, according to seasonally adjusted figures.
Total turnover rose by 2.8 per cent in the domestic market. The export marked saw a 1.6 per cent decline in the same period. The growth in total turnover is a result of both increased volume ( see Index of Production ) and price developments (see Producer price index )
The turnover growth is measured by the relative difference between average turnover the three-month period from March to may and average turnover in the previous three-month period. |
The turnover in intermediate goods rose by 2.9 per cent in March to May this year compared to the previous three-month period. Turnover in the domestic marked went up by 6.4 per cent due to positive development in the turnover of rubber and plastic products, other non-metallic products and parts of fabricated metal products. Export turnover declined by 1.1 per cent
Capital goods turnover went up by 0.9 per cent. Export turnover went up by 9.5 per cent, while turnover in the domestic marked dropped with 1.1 per cent. Transport equipment and machinery and equipment were the main contributors to the increase in export turnover.
Consumer goods went down by 0.8 per cent. There was a decline in both domestic and export marked.

The variation in manufacturing turnover can be related to changes in volume and price indices in different industries and also production to stocks and sales from stocks.
