Continued growth in turnover
Total turnover in Norwegian manufacturing was 1.6 per cent higher in the second quarter of 2008 compared to the first quarter, according to seasonally adjusted figures.
Total turnover rose by 2.6 per cent in the domestic market. The export marked saw a 3.4 per cent growth in the same period. The growth in total turnover is a result of both increased volume (see Index of Production ) and price developments (see Producer price index ).
The turnover of intermediate goods rose by 3.1 per cent from the first to the second quarter. Turnover in the domestic marked went up by 5.1 per cent due to positive development in the turnover of rubber and plastic products, other non-metallic products and parts of fabricated metal products. Export turnover increased by 2.0 per cent.
Capital goods turnover went down by 1.5 per cent. Export turnover went up by 15.3 per cent, while turnover in the domestic marked dropped by 6.0 per cent. Transport equipment and machinery and equipment were the main contributors to this development.
The turnover of consumer goods went up by 0.7 per cent. Domestic turnover rose by 2.3 per cent while export turnover dropped by 1.8 per cent.

The variation in manufacturing turnover can be related to changes in volume and price indices in different industries and also production to stocks and sales from stocks.
