Lower oil investments next year

The total investments in oil and gas extraction and pipeline transport for 2000 and 2001 are now estimated at NOK 51.0 billion and at NOK 33,6 billion respectively. The final figures for oil and gas extraction and pipeline transport ended at NOK 69.1 billion in 1999.

The total investments in oil and gas extraction and pipeline transport for 2000 are now estimated at NOK 51.0 billion. This is NOK 20.4 billion lower than the corresponding estimate given for 1999, but an increase of NOK 1.5 billion compared with the survey conducted last quarter. The increase in the estimate for the year 2000 from the last quarter is due to higher investments in fields on stream.

Investments in fields on stream in 2000 are now estimated at NOK 21.5 billion. This is NOK 1.8 billion higher than the corresponding estimate given for 1999, and also an increase of NOK 2.4 billion compared with the survey conducted last quarter. The upward adjustment from the last quarter is due to higher estimates from the fields Snorre, Tordis, Vigdis, Jotun and Valhall.

Investments in field developments for 2000 are now estimated at NOK 22.7 billion. This is NOK 12.9 billion lower than the corresponding estimate given for 1999, and also a downward adjustment of NOK 0.5 billion compared with the survey conducted last quarter

The exploration investments for 2000 are now estimated at NOK 4.8 billion. This is a decrase of NOK 0.5 billion from the corresponding estimate for 1999, but also a NOK 0.8 billion downward adjustment from the last estimate for 2000 given in the 1st quarter of 2000.

Investments in onshore actvities and pipeline transport are for 2000 estimated at NOK 1.4 billion and NOK 0.5 billion respectively.

Estimates for 2001.

The total investments in oil and gas extraction and pipeline transport in 2001 are estimated at NOK 33.6 billion. This is NOK 12.6 billion lower than the corresponding estimate for 2000 given in the 2nd quarter of 1999. The decrease is mainly due to a decline in investments for field development.

The investments in field development for 2001 are estimated at NOK 13.6 billion. This is a NOK 8.6 billion drop compared with the corresponding estimate for 2000. New development projects such as Kvitebjørn, which is currently not included in the survey, can contribute to make the final figures for 2001 higher than this estimate.

The exploration investments for 2001 are estimated at NOK 3.0 billion. This is a decrease of NOK 1.3 billion from the corresponding estimate for 2000.

The investments in fields on stream in 2001 are estimated at NOK 16.1 billion. This is a decline of NOK 0.8 billion from the corresponding estimate for 2000.

The investments in onshore activities and pipeline transport for 2001 are estimated at NOK 0.6 and 0.3 billion respectively.
