Increased deliveries of petroleum products

Total deliveries of petroleum products increased by 3.7 per cent in the first quarter 2001 compared with the same period last year, and totalled 2 289 million litres. Motor gasoline and auto diesel contributed the most to this increase.

Motor gasoline and auto diesel came to about 45 per cent of total deliveries for the first three-month period and showed 6.7 and 13.9 per cent growth respectively.

Deliveries of light heating oil and heating and lighting kerosene rose by 9.3 and 4.5 per cent to 213 and 51 million litres respectively. Deliveries of heavy fuel oil showed a 12.1 per cent decline, of which deliveries to ship in ocean transport (bunker oil) were reduced by 23.5 per cent. Deliveries to the industry rose by 12.5 per cent. Marine gas oil and jet fuel showed 4.9 and 2.2 per cent reduction respectively.

Past twelve-month period

Total deliveries of petroleum products for the past twelve months were 9 137 million litres, 5.5 per cent lower than in the previous twelve-month period. Deliveries of motor gasoline decreased by 0.8 per cent while auto diesel rose by 0.5 per cent. Deliveries of light heating oil and heating and lighting kerosene declined by 13.2 and 15.0 per cent respectively. Deliveries of marine gas oil, heavy fuel oil and jet fuel showed a reduction as well.

There were 22 delivery days in March 2001 against 23 in March 2000.
