Decline in deliveries
The deliveries of petroleum products totalled 816 million litres in August, a 5.7 per cent decrease compared with August last year. Both diesel, gasoline and heating oils showed declines in deliveries whereas jet fuel rose.
The deliveries of motor gasoline and auto diesel showed small changes in August, whereas the deliveries of heating oils declined considerably. This may be related to a mild August. The deliveries of marine gas oil fell by 6.0 per cent. The deliveries of marine gas oil to ships in ocean transport declined by 15.8 per cent. Heavy fuel oil showed a considerable decrease in sales, but this was primarily due to a comparison with high sale figures from August last year.
Past 12 months
The total deliveries of petroleum products came to 9 063 million litres for the past 12 months, a slight decline compared with the previous 12-month period. The changes in deliveries were rather small for the various products. The strongest change was shown in deliveries of heavy fuel oil, which decreased by 16.0 per cent.
There were 22 delivery days in August 2002 against 23 in August 2001.
