Less gasoline, slightly more diesel
In recent years, sales of gasoline have declined and sales of diesel have increased. The trend continued in May, but the increase in diesel sales appears to have slowed.

Total sales of diesel ended at 315 million litres in May. This is about 1 million litres more than in the same month last year. Earlier this year, sales increased by between 8 and 16 million litres compared to sales in the same month the previous year. The average price of one litre of diesel was NOK 12.03 in May 2015, which is NOK 1.15 less than in May last year and NOK 0.64 less than in April this year. Sales of diesel accounted for about 42 per cent of total sales of petroleum products.
In May, total sales of gasoline amounted to 104 million litres; a 7 million-litre decrease from May last year. One litre of gasoline cost on average NOK 13.99. This corresponds to a decrease of NOK 1.04 from May 2014 and a decrease of NOK 0.29 from April to May this year.
Total sales of petroleum products ended at 748 million litres in May this year.
