Highest quantity cut in 20 years
A total of 9 million cubic metres of industrial roundwood were cut for sale in 2013; an increase of 230 000 cubic metres from 2012. This is the highest quantity of timber that has been cut since the early 1990s. The average price per cubic metre of timber fell by 7 per cent.

The aggregated gross value of roundwood sold to the manufacturing industry was NOK 2.8 billion in 2013 - a decrease of 2 per cent compared with the corresponding quarter in 2012.
The county of Hedmark had the highest decrease with 190 000 cubic metres.
Decrease in average prices
According to preliminary calculations, forest owners obtained an average price of NOK 305 per cubic metre sold in 2013, compared with NOK 328 in 2012. The average price per cubic metre of saw logs of spruce and pine decreased by NOK 10 and NOK 6 respectively. In the same period, the average price of pulpwood of spruce and pine decreased by NOK 43 and NOK 39 respectively.
