More timber cut and falling prices
A total of 2.7 million cubic metres of timber were cut for sale in the 1st quarter of 2016. This is an increase of 2 per cent compared with the corresponding quarter of 2015. In the same period, the average timber price decreased by 7 per cent.

The aggregated gross value of roundwood sold to the manufacturing industry was NOK 887 million in the 1st quarter of 2016; a decrease of NOK 50 million compared with the same quarter in 2015. On average, the forest owners obtained NOK 326 per cubic metre of timber; a decrease of NOK 25.
Preliminary external trade figures show that 30 per cent of the total quantity cut was exported, predominantly to Sweden and Germany.
