Slight change in construction of forest roads

In 2000, 166 kilometres of new whole-year roads for lorries were completed and 436 kilometres were rebuilt. 614 kilometres of new winter roads for lorries and roads for tractors were built and 30 kilometres were rebuilt.

Fewer new whole-year roads

From 1999 to 2000 the decline of new whole years roads for lorries was 52 kilometres, or 24 percent. Most kilometres of new roads were built in Hordaland. 20 kilometres of roads were completed in this county. In Hedmark and Sogn og Fjordane 19 kilometres were completed last year.

Towards reconstruction

The length of altered and rebuilt whole year roads for lorries increased slightly from 432 kilometres in 1999 to 436 kilometres in 2000. The last years more kilometres of roads have been rebuilt than newly built. In 2000 the part of reconstruction was 72 percent.

More winter roads for lorries and roads for tractors

The length of new winter roads for lorries and roads for tractors increased by 7 percent from last year. A total of 614 kilometres were built in 2000. Telemark county heads the list with 119 kilometres of newly completed roads. The length of altered and rebuilt roads was stable at 30 kilometres last year.

Stable expenses

The total expenses of new construction and reconstruction amounted to NOK 164 million in 2000. Expenditures for whole-year roads for lorries amounted to NOK 116 million, while expenditures for winter roads for lorries and roads for tractors amounted to NOK 48 million. Government subsidies and loans covered NOK 64 million of the costs, and the remaining NOK 100 million were covered by the owners.
