Decline in construction of forest roads
In total, 93 kilometres of new all-year roads and summer roads and 305 kilometres of winter roads and tractor roads were built in 2004.
The total costs of construction and reconstruction amounted to NOK 123 million in 2004, a decrease of NOK 26 million from 2003. The road construction expenditure is divided between NOK 91 million on all-year roads for lorries and NOK 32 million on winter roads for lorries and tractors. Government subsidies covered NOK 43 million of the costs, and the owners paid the remaining NOK 80 million.

What are the statistics about?
All forest roads need to be approved by the Forest Service before the road is registered as completed. Some of the roads are
built over several years, and the registered number and length does not correspond exactly with the actual construction in
the current year.
