Stable yield from the grouse hunt
The grouse is the most felled small game in Norway. On average, a half million grouses were felled yearly. During the hunting year 2004/05, nearly 450 000 grouses were felled.
A total of 822 300 animals were felled during the hunting year 2004/05. Totally 98 900 hunters took part in small game hunting.
Increase in Nord-Trøndelag
The yield of grouses increased with 17 per cent in Nord-Trøndelag. Totally 59 000 grouses were felled here. In the hunting year 2004/05 most grouses were felled in Finnmark. In this county, the hunters felled 89 000 grouses. In Nordland and Sør-Trøndelag there were felled 67 000 and 44 000 grouses respectively.
Hunter with yield
70 per cent of the small game hunters felled small game during the hunting year 2004/05. In average, they felled 8 small games each.
Less felled black grouse
Totally 23 300 black grouses were felled in the hunting year 2004/05. This is a decline on 17 per cent from the previously hunting year. There were felled 10 500 capercaillies.
Roe deer
In the autumn 2004 a total of 28 900 roe deer were felled. Most roe deers were felled in Østfold county. A total of 3 500 animals were felled in this county. In the counties Aust-Agder and Vest-Agder there were felled respectively 3 200 and 2 800 roe deer. 37 300 hunters hunted roe deer, and 14 700 had yields from the hunt.
Other small game
In the hunting year 2004/05 a number of 29 300 mountain hare, 19 400 red fox, 20 700 mallards and 10 100 greylag geese were felled.
