3 billion in motion picture and video activities

The local KAUs within motion picture and video activities had a turnover of NOK 3 billion and employed 3 192 people in 2003. The turnover within motion picture and video production decreased, while motion picture and video distribution, as well as motion picture projection, increased. Better results in 2003
Except motion picture projection, all the classes within cultural services had positive operating results in 2003. The operating margin increased from 3 to 5 per cent. Motion picture projection still had negative results, but the operating margin in this class increased by 5 per cent in 2003.
Profitability in news agency activities
News agency activities also include freelance journalists and press photographers. Most of the enterprises have only one employed person, and in spite of an increase in the number of enterprises, turnover and employment decreased in 2003. The industry group had a turnover of almost NOK 814 million and employed 840 people. The operating costs had a larger decrease than the operating income in 2003 and resulted in a positive operating result of NOK 89 million.
Statistics on the enterprise level
The structural business statistics for cultural activities are compiled both on the local KAU level and on the enterprise level. On the enterprise level the turnover was also NOK 10.4 billion, while 9 392 persons were employed in 2003. Figures on the enterprise level will usually deviate somewhat from figures compiled on the local KAU level due to the fact that their enterprises are registered in the industry subclass that comprises the main part of the activity of the enterprise, and therefore may be registered in a different industry than some of the local KAUs. More detailed information about this and other definitions used in the structural business statistics for cultural services is available in "About the statistics".
