Oil and gas extraction spends more on environment
Expenditures on environmental protection in oil and gas extraction totalled NOK 3.8 billion in 2013; an increase of 13 per cent from 2012.

The NOK 3.8 billion spent on environmental protection in oil and gas extraction was made up of NOK 1.7 billion on current expenditures and NOK 2.1 billion on investments. In total, this was an increase of 13 per cent from 2012. The increase in expenditures on environmental investments related to more environmental-friendly production technologies aimed at reducing waste and emissions of greenhouse gases.
For the mainland manufacturing industries, including electricity and water supply, the survey on environmental expenditure is revised from 2013 onwards. The survey now only includes environmental expenditures in enterprises that are required by law to carry out and/or are obliged to report on specific environmental measures. For these enterprises, the total expenditures on environmental investments were NOK 0.8 billion in 2013.
