Higher turnover for waste activities
The turnover for local kind of activity units within water, sewerage and waste management and remediation activities went up by 7.4 per cent from 2010 to 2011.

Within waste activities and materials recovery, NOK 9.1 billion of the turnover came from waste collection, NOK 8.9 billion from materials recovery and NOK 2.3 billion from waste treatment and disposal.
Total value added (at factor prices) amounted to NOK 7.1 billion, up 6 per cent from 2010. Waste collection and materials recovery was the largest industry, with a value added of NOK 6.3 billion (89 per cent of the total).
Most employees within waste collection
There were 8 158 persons employed within water, sewerage and waste in 2011. Of those employed in waste activities and materials recovery, 4 138 worked with waste collection. Remediation and other waste management employed only 102 persons.
Total investments within water, sewerage and waste fell from NOK 2.2 billion in 2010 to NOK 1.4 billion in 2011.
Enterprise figures for water, sewerage and waste
There were 1 070 enterprises within water, sewerage and waste in 2011, and together these employed 8 052 people. Total turnover at enterprise level was NOK 22 billion, up 6.8 per cent from 2010.
