Increased tax payments

From January to October, distributed taxes amounted NOK 362 billion. This is an increase of NOK 75 billion, or 26.3 per cent, compared with the same period last year. Taxes on extraction of petroleum are the largest contributor to the growth in distributed taxes.

In the period from January to October, taxes on petroleum reached NOK 99 billion. This is almost twice as much as the same period last year, when the contribution of petroleum taxes was NOK 52 billion. High oil price and a strong dollar earlier this year are important factors behind the increase.

Total tax income, excluding taxes on extraction of petroleum, reached almost NOK 263 billion. This is an increase of 11.9 per cent compared with the same period last year. A reason for this rise is increased payment in non-personal taxpaying arrangement and a general rise in wages and employment.

Total taxes paid to local government from January to October this year is approximately NOK 84 billion. This is a rise of 16.4 per cent compared with the same period last year. The increase in the income tax is due to increased tax rate to the municipalities, against an equivalent reduction in tax equalization tax.

All the counties have an increase in tax income compared with the same period previous year. Østfold has the largest rise in tax income, 15.5 per cent. Finnmark has the lowest with 7.9 per cent.
