Increase in total tax payments
By the end of June this year, a total of NOK 408.8 billion had been paid in taxes in Norway. This is 9.5 per cent more than the sum for the corresponding period in 2010.
Taxes on petroleum extraction account for most of the taxes paid in June. A total of NOK 28.8 billion has been paid this month. The total sum for the first six months of 2011 is NOK 87.4 billion. NOK 33.1 billion of the total sum has been paid as ordinary taxes and the remaining NOK 54.3 billion has been paid as special taxes on petroleum extraction.
Payments to the municipalities and county authorities in the first six months of 2011 total NOK 70.2 billion. NOK 58.1 billion has been paid to the municipalities and NOK 12.1 billion has been paid to the county authorities.
Contributions to the national insurance scheme for the first half of this year total NOK 114.4 billion. Employer contributions account for NOK 64.8 billion of this sum and the remaining NOK 49.6 billion has been paid as member contributions.
Lower taxes to municipalities due to changes in the income systemOur figures show that a larger part of the taxes are paid to the central government and a smaller part to the municipalities. This is the result of some recent changes in the income system for the municipalities. The changes involve a lower tax rate at the municipality level and higher subsidies from the central government. |
